The People's Republic of Bangladesh has approved the Annual Development Project (ADP) titled “Establishment of Mineral Processing Center at IMMM, BCSIR, Joypurhat”. The project is being implemented at a cost of Tk 9501.46 lakh from a period of 1 January 2017 - 30 June, 2020 by Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. Under this project, the construction of mineral processing plant and other infrastructure development work is underway. In recent time placer deposits (zircon, rutile, ilmenite, magnetite etc.) is very much important in different countries, especially Australia, USA, Mexico, Egypt and India. Bangladesh has also good reserves and it is very much necessary to conduct research on the economic river placers for both light and heavy minerals.
