• Exploit mineral deposits of the country and carry out research on innovation of commercial and exportable industrial products.

• Carry out advanced research to develop mineral processing system from promising minerals/ores of the country.

• Development of metallurgical process and advanced technology to establish various types of industries in the country i.e., agricultural tools, automobile parts, shipbuilding spare parts, composite manufacturing industries etc.

• Enhance laboratory and research facilities within the field of mining, mineralogy and metallurgy.

• Provide training facilities to help create skilled manpower and enrich the knowledge of the workers engaged in mining, mineral processing and metallurgical industries.

• Provide research facilities/higher studies to the universities, government and non-government organizations.

• Provide technical assistance to the material processing and metal industries.

• Render analytical and testing services to the industries and other organizations for their raw materials and finished products.
